With three singles now under her belt, Allegra releases her first EP, "To Stop the Void from Growing”, into the world. An eclectic mix of five songs, each unique unto itself, with no two songs quite existing in the same genre but all in the same energetic vain.
Writing songs is an excellent way to process life, especially the big emotions, like anxiety, like grief. But grief is a rollercoaster of mixed emotions, some harsher than others. The last three releases were rooted in turmoil and tumultuousness; an angrier, sadder, frustrated state in “Ex Queen” and “Eternal Blues” that eventually gave way to the despair so palpable in “Apathy.”
“To Stop the Void from Growing” steers away from relationship pitfalls. Instead, it zooms the picture much father out, focusing on existentialism and self-actualization. It asks “why am I here? What is my purpose? What is the purpose of f***ing anything?”, exploring all of the joys, despairs, rages, and anxieties inherent to those questions.
This EP is a coming-of-age story in earning who you are, what you want, what you’re willing to put up with (or not), what’s meant for you and what’s meant to pass you by.
