2017 was a transformative year on a personal level as well as a collective one. It was the year I graduated college, and like all recent college grads, I had no clue what real adulthood had in store for me other than working 6 days a week and berating myself for going to art school instead of pursing a more practical degree.
All this amidst the backdrop of a volatile political climate that has only intensified in the years since. The world changed in 2017. The future that once seemed bright and self-assured was now volatile, depressing, and murky.
I like to joke that "this song is about my fucked-up 2017", but to deny the collective gravitational shift denies the song of it's true power.
